Before you sell your practice, talk to a dentist who already did.

I built my dental practice from scratch and sold it to a DSO six years later. I retained equity and built an investment portfolio from the proceeds. I know what the pitch sounds like. You won't get one here. Contact me and I'll get back to you with my honest read.

What most dentists find out too late

You have a number. You're not sure your practice gets you there. Everyone who knows wants you to sell it. You're on your own for everything else.

Most dentists have a number they want to hit. I know because I am one, and I've talked to enough of us to see the pattern. It's usually somewhere between $7 and $10 million. And it's usually pulled out of thin air.

Not because it's wrong. Because it's aspirational. It sounds right. It's what sets the family up. The plan to get there is usually some version of: run the practice, invest what you can, sell before you retire, and hope the math works out.

Here's what most dentists don't know: in many cases, the practice already gets you there.

It just needs to be structured properly.

We're all in the dark on the most important financial asset of our lives. And the people who could shed light on it are only thinking about one thing: closing your practice sale.

Nobody else is covering the full picture. The pre-sale decision. The sale process itself. How to structure what comes after so the number you walk away with actually becomes the life you had in mind.

I went through it all. I'm here to share what I discovered.

Who you're talking to

I have nothing to sell you. I'm just a dentist who lived it.

I built my dental practice from scratch in Chicago. Six years from opening day to close. I sold to a DSO, retained equity, and spent the following year building an investment portfolio from the proceeds.

The process worked out. But I walked into it not fully understanding how much my EBITDA actually drove my valuation, how taxes worked, and how the deals were structured. That's the thing I most wish someone had explained to me before I was in the room.

I built Practice Transition Guide because the information gap between sellers and buyers in this market is wide, and most of the people who understand it aren't on the seller's side.

Common questions - FAQ

A few things dentists ask

Is this a sales pitch?
No. I'm not a broker and I don't represent any DSO or buyer. This is a conversation about where you are and what your options look like. You decide what to do with that information.
Does it cost anything?
No. There's no cost to submit your practice information or to book a call.
I'm not ready to sell yet. Is this still useful?
Yes. Most of the dentists I talk to are 1 to 3 years from a transition, not 1 to 3 months. The earlier you understand how valuation works, what buyers look at, and what your options are, the better positioned you'll be when the time comes.
